There are exhibits of unique artistic and historical value in the museum. Among them there is an 11th-century silver Byzantine reliquary which is actually a chest for keeping the relics of Martyr Aront. The collection of icon paintings consisting of over 1,000 works includes some real masterpieces – the 15th-18th-century icons of Halychyna school. The fund collection of sculpture contains some of the best samples of Lviv plastic art of the 17th-18th centuries. An important place among the museum’s funds is held by the collection of old printed books numbering about three thousand items. Among them there are Korans and theological texts of the 15th-19th century as well as the most remarkable collection of the 17th-20th-century Torahs – the sacred books of Judaism – in Ukraine. Archaeology is also appropriately represented in the museum. The Treasures of the Museum Exhibition has been opened in the basements of the Dominican Cathedral. The museum possesses a specialized library of religious studies which has no match in Ukraine; among its 30 thousand books there are works by theologians from many spiritual academies. A laboratory producing holograms of valuable religious items operates here. These holograms can be purchased at the museum’s kiosk. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Thursday
